ABOUT MARIA XENIA
Maria Xenia was founded in 2023 by Maria Xenia Wallentin, after she graduated from Scandinavian Academy of Fashion & Design in Copenhagen.
Maria started her journey, when she discoveret her passion for romance and horror. By combining the two genrer´s, it created a world of dark fantasy of stories, about death and love.
“I love to tell and create stories about my garments. I feel like, when a piece of clothing has a story, it becomes alive and is no longer just a piece of clothing”.
Maria grew up in a small town in the north of Jutland, where she spent a lot of her childhood creating different artefacts, like dollhouses, costumes and drawings.
When Maria got older, she started doing modelling, where her interests of fashion grew bigger and saw a big opportunity to be creative in different ways.
Her designs are described as dark romance, inspired by cult horror movies and true crime stories. Incorporating elements like skin-revealing silhouettes and tight waists to emphasize femininity, along with intricate details like bows, ruffles, clasps, and buckles, adds depth and complexity to her creations. The color palette of neutral and dark tones with a sinister presence, such as wine red, dark grey, and off-white, further enhances the overall mood and storytelling aspect of her designs.
